10 QUESTIONS WITH JEREMIAH GREER @ SHADOWS IN THE DARK

Attention Paranormal Freaks and Geeks, mark down this date …

April 17, 2010

ic4910.gifWhy? That’s the date of the 3rd annual full-day broadcast of Shadows in the Dark, an Internet radio show hosted by ghost hunter /paranormal extraordinaire Jeremiah Greer. What’s unbelievably cool about the event isn’t the show format, the drop-in guests, or the countless giveaways. No siree, Bob. It’s the venue – for the 2nd straight year the show will be broadcast live from Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in St. Augustine, Florida. So strap yourself in for a rapid-fire interview with Jeremiah about the Ripley’s event, and other notable news and hauntings.

1. Tell us about Shadows in the Dark; how many years have you been doing the radio program and who are some of the notable guests that you've interviewed?

(JG:) Shadows in the Dark is getting ready to celebrate its 3rd year. Over that time, we have interviewed people such as Robert Damon Schneck, Stanton Friedman, John Michael Greer, Ted V. Michaels, Paris Flammonde, and the list honestly goes on and on – from musicians and authors to scientists and comic book creators … to the just plain weird!

2. Aside from the radio show, you also publish Mysteries Magazine. What's the premise behind the mag and what are some of the notable articles/columns you've had in the past? Where can we purchase the latest issue and back issues?

(JG:) We acquired Mysteries not too long ago, even though it has been published for about 6 years. The goal with it under our management is to open up even more areas for people to share their stories and experiences with life and the ic49102.gif"mysteries" that surround us. You know, kind of like the saying "for the people, by the people". It would be hard to pin down notable articles as it covers everything. Who is to say Bigfoot is more important than a UFO or a sunken treasure? You can more info on Mysteries and where to get it at www.mysteriesmagazine.com.

3. On April 17th you will be doing a 24-hour Shadows in the Dark marathon broadcast live from the Ripley's Auditorium in St. Augustine, Florida. Tell us more!

ic49103.gif

(JG:) Well, as I’ve mentioned, this will be the 3rd time we’ll be doing the special show and our 2nd time doing the event at Ripley's in St. Augustine. With the first year anniversary, we decided to give our listeners something special and free. With an anniversary lasting all day, we decided why not make our broadcast last all day too? Our goal was to capture the diversity of our show – the variety of guests, great giveaways, and other “on air” surprises – in a 24-hour wrapper. Doing the show from a great venue like Ripley’s – without being charged a dime by our generous hosts – is huge. Really, where would we be without the support of others?

4. Who are some of the guests who'll be popping in – both on the radio show and providing live entertainment for Ripley's visitors?

ic49104.gif(JG:) Wow, how many pages is the allowed to be? On location we’ll have Charlie Carlson, author of Weird Florida and star of the PBS show Weird Florida: Road Less Traveled. Barry Anderson of Ripley's will also be a guest. Barry is the guy who ic49105.gifmakes the wax figures and other interesting displays for Ripley's. Plus Mentalist Professor Slim King, Karl Miranda leading an all-day drum circle out on the lawn, tarot card reader Walli, author Daria DiGiovanni, and the list goes on and on. It's really people from all walks of life talking about everything under the sun and even beyond that.

5. What are some of the cool giveaways you'll be providing?

(JG:) The giveaways will be a huge mix of signed and unsigned books, DVDs, CDs, t-shirts, and more. About 99% of the items are from the guests and friends of the show. It would be really hard to even list a few because it wouldn’t give the true scope of the number of items to be given away. If you like the guests, you'll love the giveaways. And there’ll be a LOT of them!

6. Who's providing the coffee to keep you awake all night? What is your favorite exhibit in the Ripley's museum? Has anything weird happened while doing the show - "Believe it or Not?"

(JG:) Coffee? Who needs coffee. Well, actually yeah, I will BUT I usually only drink about 4 cups during the event. Once you get started with it, and the excitement and joy of watching people just simply having a good time, staying awake is the least of my problems. To pick a favorite Ripley's exhibit would be nearly ic49106.gifimpossible. I mean this is a group that takes pride in providing unusual but factual artifacts and information. When you walk through one of the Auditoriums with that in mind, it's all mind blowing. The abilities people have … the skills they display … the strange rituals and bizarre freaks of nature – dang, they have it all!

7. Who are some of the kind folks at Ripley's who will be assisting you and making it all happen. Any other folks you'd like to mention who valiantly contribute "behind the scenes"?

(JG:) This again would be a huge list. So many people over the years have supported what we do in so many ways. It honestly has been amazing and I never thought we would be where we are today. Ripley's has been nothing but a pleasure and fun to work with. Guys like Tim O'Brien, Barry Anderson, Ralf Ingwerson – these guys are hilarious and are out to explore life and have fun doing it.

8. Is there a website where we can go to get a schedule of events and more information?

(JG:) You will find out everything that will be going on April 17th at www.shadows24.com. You will find the broadcast schedule and live events schedule. I guess it's kind of like two event happening at the same time and same place.

ic49107.gif9. Tell us about Jeremiah Greer, the ghost hunter, paranormal radio talk show host and closet serial killer. Uh, scratch that last part. Seriously, who are you and why do you do this?

(JG:) Well, I have only killed 3 people. I mean, yeah I like ghost hunting and the paranormal. I guess it was really all a way to explore my own interest in the unusual. I have had strange experiences throughout my life. Some scared the crap out of me and others where very comforting – you know, revelation-type experience that opens you up more to what life is about. With the show and magazine, I get to talk to more people who have had similar experiences and continue my quest for the truth of it all.

10. Please give us your website and tell us about any upcoming guests we don’t want to miss.

(JG:) We operate a few website being we have our hands in just about everything we can. For Shadows in the Dark visit www.shadowsinthedarkradio.com. For Mysteries visit www.mysteriesmagazine.com. For our webstore visit www.shadowsmedia.com.

Thanks Jeremiah! We’ll be sure to tune in on April 17th.
